Failing uncontrollably

So our adventure started at 8:30 AM at LAX when our group got together for our flight to Colombia. We checked in as a group, and by some fate of chance Minnie ended up with 25 bags checked in under her name, and everyone else had none... After security mishaps (facewash in a plastic bag being checked-in), and trying to take videos in the terminal, we were on our way to Bogotá.

Our flight was slightly cramped and full of random conversations, but we got through the 7 hour flight perfectly fine. At Bogotá, we chilled for almost 2 hours before our flight to Quito.

Our landing was far from perfect... we attempted one landing, and were surprised to find that instead of going down, at the last minute we shot upwards! After an incomprehensible announcement, we got the gist that we would need to circle the airport once more to try landing again. This ended up being 9 times, with 3 attempted landings, before we figured out that actually we were going back to Bogotá! The weather in Quito was so bad and foggy that no planes were able to land that night. Some of our members were excited about being able to go to Colombia and finally get a stamp in their passport from the country, but alas! We ended up randomly landing in Cali, where we were told to just wait until 5AM... we got in at 1AM...

So within plastic chairs galore, we chatted about our perspectives of life, almost got in trouble with Colombian authorities (twice...), and ate awkwardly dry sandwiches, and flew back to Bogotá to wait another few hours before FINALLY getting on our i flight to Quito.

After clearing customs, in which Roxanne's Spanish skills allowed us to get our copious amounts of toothpaste through, we got to the bus and waited for a few hours for James to land.... (good job James).

Our bus ride back was uneventful (yet long!), but we finally arrived in Riobamba in the evening. We got some dinner, took showers (FINALLY CLEAN AFTER 36 HOURS!) and crashed, so that we could get up in time for our 4:30AM breakfast...

... what an adventure.... but it just makes our trip even more unique!

  2. Sounds like a great travel experience :O - well, you have awesome memories at least, haha. So you almost got in trouble with Columbian authorities... Barely there and you're running away from the cops already, aren't you? :D
